Job description
The Software Engineering Intern role at Google is a 10–12 week Summer Internship Program starting in May/June 2027. This internship provides students with an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, AI-integrated software solutions, and large-scale distributed systems that serve billions of users worldwide.
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software solutions. You will contribute to real-world projects, solve complex engineering challenges, and gain hands-on experience with Google's infrastructure, products, and engineering culture.
This internship is designed to accelerate technical growth, enhance problem-solving abilities, and provide exposure to large-scale software engineering practices.
Key responsibilities
Develop scalable and efficient software solutions for Google products and services.
Design, implement, test, and maintain software applications and distributed systems.
Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders across multiple projects.
Analyze technical problems and identify optimal solutions using data-driven approaches.
Contribute to AI-powered software systems and next-generation technologies.
Support the development and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
Apply concepts learned in computer science coursework to solve real-world challenges.
Foster innovation, teamwork, and knowledge sharing within engineering teams.

Educational Qualification
Currently pursuing:
Bachelor's Degree
Master's Degree
Dual Degree Program
in:
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Or any related technical field.
Experience Required
Experience in developing software applications or technical projects.
Experience with at least one programming language.
Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
Students currently in their penultimate year of study.
Experience in: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Distributed Systems, Databases, Networking, Data Mining, Compilers, System Design.
Experience designing and implementing complex software systems.
Knowledge of performance optimization, debugging, and reliability engineering.
